Reflective Analysis

Our brief was to create a short three to five minutes sequence from ten to twenty shots. It had to be the part of the film. The genre we chose was thriller horror. This sequence fitted in the second part of todrov’s theory, which was the disequilibrium. This is where something always goes wrong. As in the group my responsibility was to edit the takes. From my last project I found out that I was good at camera work and editing. When I joined this group all micro aspects were already chosen so I thought I could help out with camera work so each time I offered some thing the group didn’t agree to what I had to say they said it doesn’t work with the idea of film. After that I took the job of editing but the group member, which was doing editing started to help out with camera work so I did the editing. It’s important to create meaning for the audience so it would relate to them and to create something which doesn’t have an obvious meaning but has a hidden meaning. This makes it more effective and more interesting for audience to watch.

This sequence is conventional of our genre because we used an isolated park, which is a convention of our genre. The location connotes normality

When the girl is waling home and we see a POV from the girl looking at her phone texting her mom after that I have faded the shot showing the time pass because from my audience feedback I found out that the same continuing doesn’t keep them interested in the film any more.

Through my editing I have created meaning for the spectator. In the sound, I have made the music louder and lower volume to create the climax in the sequence of the film. In the shot when we see the ghost the music goes really loud and fast beat to show her power which makes the audience feel as she is powerful and dominant.

It builds up suspense for the audience when they see the face of the ghost the first time the music goes very high and fast and rock like. From the audience feed back I found out that the location was good.

Toward the end I made the character walk very slow with creepy horror type of music to make the audience feel uncomfortable building up suspense tension and theater of the mind, making the audience think what is going to happen to the girl.

Yes we did met the brief which was to make a short two to three minute sequence and we made 2 min 21. I our group we decided to make a horror or a supernatural thriller and we made it successfully. In my opinion I think I fulfilled my roll very well and took the full responsibility of a good editor and completed the task and the responsibility which was given to me. I think I clearly represented the genre of a horror and a supernatural thriller with the creepy music and slow motion editing. The sequence we made was designed to fit in the second part of todorov’s theory which is the disequilibrium that is when every thing goes wrong and we clearly showed the audience what its about. I think that he only improvement, which I can think of, is the improvement of music as we used a rock music which does not go with any other music so we had to compromise with a different music and try to put them together. According to the audience feed back one of them said, “POV of view of the ghost is vey confusing” which could have been improved but because the camera work was not my responsibility so I could not change it.

Zombieland

Editing: in the beginnig of the scene as the camera passese near thwe boy it fasts up to show that the boy is puzzaled and scared. in the beginning the clips are slow and there are cuts to show the mood of the scene this is also becaise that the clown is walking slowly. as the clown gets nearer and nearer the pace gets faster and faster this builds up tention in the audience. behind the boy a subtital appears as the boy is looking to wards the sky to show what is he thinking. all the way through this scene there is a voice over of the boy of what ever heis thinnking this doesn't make the audience focus on his facial expression to see what is he thinking but on what is he saying. they have also shown a match on action when the boy looks at the hammer we see the hammer as a point of view shot. to show the action the pacing gets faster and faster as he hits the clown. as he is hitting the clown with the hammer a fast music comes on to show the action.

Mise-en-scene: costume to the normality they have put the characters in normal clothes the charecter of clombus is wearing T-shir, jacket and jean. lighting to show the dark eara they have used dark lighting as its night time this aslo makes it more scarere. props to show the violence and horror they used hammer to kill the ckown amd bash his head. production design to show the realisticness they have filmed this scene in a park. space to show the vounrability and lonleiness they have pu lots of space around the charecter of clumbus.

Casino Royale

Sandrah a i worked on a remake of a wellknown Uk film James Bond. we worked on the poison screan of the casino royale. our version of the film was simeler to the origanal film. we included the slow music to make it look like that they were in a clam enviornment (casino in the orignal film) drinking coffe (martiny in the orignal film) suddenly i (james Bond) realised that there was something in thew coffie and leave the table. i also did the editing i included the heart beat sound which was similer to the orinal version of the film.

after that there is tension filled music to make the audience come to the edge of their seats. we used canted camera to meke the audience as they were in the film. we continued the music to show relationship between two shots and what is going on.

Who Runs Hollywood?

How powerfull is hollywood and for what reasons?
hollywood is very powerfull because it invests $25 billion globaly. it doenats the earth globally and ita well known thing. bollywood maked the most films but it does'nt ake the most prophit holllwood does this shows that hollywood is more domenant and the audience of hollywood are more than bollywood.

Who/waht els is powerful in the film industry and why?
=the powerfull people in the holywood film industry are the producers who produce the film, with out them who will make the film and how will reach its audience the audience play quiet a important role in this process without them threr will be no one to tell how the film was and thuis links the producers in if a film is very difficult to promot some times 50% of the budget goes towards promotioin. the difficult genre which doesn't sell very well then they could make a loss. with the help of the advertisers the film can go a long way if a film is advertised at the wright way more and more peopl ewill watch it even if the film is crap. another group of people who have the power over the film industry are the actors the directors and the technical crew. some people go and watch the film purly because of the facts that the acters and the actresess in the film.

Clip Review

COSTUME: in this clip the audience denote that the actor Anil Kapoor is wearing a suit this connotes that he is the host the the popular TV show “who wants to be a millionaire?” and one of the important peoples in the clip. The character of Jamal is wearing normal clothes in light colour this connotes that he isn't very wealthy to afford good clothes to come on TV. The audience are wearing normal clothes and not vibrant or posh clothes so it does not grab the attention of the people who are watch to film to words the audience in the back ground.

LGHT: in the beginning the light is focused only on the host and the character Jamal as he is asking the question this builds up the attention and makes the audience who are watching the film concentrate on those characters. As he gets the answer right the whole studio is filled with light to show the audience who are there and there feelings as they clap. In the control room there is no light accept from the light coming out of the TVs. To show the facial expression of the people in the control room the light from the TVs is shining on there faces.

PRODUCTION DESIGN:the director has chosen this shot and location to show whole off his past life in a studio repeating itself. The producer has careful planed what is going to go in this shot of the studio and also out side of the for example when the girl is watching her and running to words the phone. His brother is also watching him.

PROPS:there aren't many props used in this clip but there are a few such as the TVs in the control room this creates an elution of some thing central, the base. The chairs in the studio are high and designer showing the the welthyness of the show.

SCENE: this scene is set in a studio of who wants to be a millionaire which is a quiet small to be honest because there isn't enough space for the audience.

Film Review

The genre of the film is action and some elements of romance. The rating of the film is 13 and PG because of strong sequences of action violence and mayhem throughout. the audience of this film are action loving young aged from 13 to 30. The film was made in USA. The languages are English and French as some parts of the film are made in Paris, France as well as Prague, Czech Republic and los Angeles, America.

Joe is the code name for America's highly trained special mission force. the purpose of the force is to defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. in 1987 the make a movie of the cartoon series G.I. Joe but it wasn't a big hit and the audience didn't like it at all. Stephen Sommers has directed a big budget Hollywood action movie based on G.I. Joe. it is said to be cought between X-Men, Transformers and Mission Impossible.

there were several video games adapted for G.I Joe from 1983 to 1992. Now there are new vedio games for wii, xbox 360, ps3 and DS to go with the new Gi joe film rise of the cobra. there are several notacable staes in the fim ne of them is Jonathan Pryce he has done up to 88 films in his life including G. i. Joe. Another noticeable star is Christopher Eccleston, he has done Drama, Documentary, Sci-Fi, Crime drama and other independent films. Another star which is,nt a big strar is young Leo Howard he has done 8 big hits film including drama.

My personal opinion on this film is that its very interesting and makes me go and watch this film because of all the camera angels and the pacing, how its paces together I liked the way that thay have used fade between each shot and image. each shot is very small which makes it more effective. there are props used in the trailer such as the advanced technology for example the advanced suit and the world monuments being destroyed and earth in being in danger.I think that the message of the film is that voilance is bad and the people who truly love each other will meet at the end.

G. I. Joe
