Clip Review

COSTUME: in this clip the audience denote that the actor Anil Kapoor is wearing a suit this connotes that he is the host the the popular TV show “who wants to be a millionaire?” and one of the important peoples in the clip. The character of Jamal is wearing normal clothes in light colour this connotes that he isn't very wealthy to afford good clothes to come on TV. The audience are wearing normal clothes and not vibrant or posh clothes so it does not grab the attention of the people who are watch to film to words the audience in the back ground.

LGHT: in the beginning the light is focused only on the host and the character Jamal as he is asking the question this builds up the attention and makes the audience who are watching the film concentrate on those characters. As he gets the answer right the whole studio is filled with light to show the audience who are there and there feelings as they clap. In the control room there is no light accept from the light coming out of the TVs. To show the facial expression of the people in the control room the light from the TVs is shining on there faces.

PRODUCTION DESIGN:the director has chosen this shot and location to show whole off his past life in a studio repeating itself. The producer has careful planed what is going to go in this shot of the studio and also out side of the for example when the girl is watching her and running to words the phone. His brother is also watching him.

PROPS:there aren't many props used in this clip but there are a few such as the TVs in the control room this creates an elution of some thing central, the base. The chairs in the studio are high and designer showing the the welthyness of the show.

SCENE: this scene is set in a studio of who wants to be a millionaire which is a quiet small to be honest because there isn't enough space for the audience.

Well done Zain, a good first attempt at textual analysis. You have used a useful structure to make sure you covered each point, however, your fifth point is SPACE not Scene. Try to use media terms when explaining such as represent, signify, connote (means). When analysing production design, think about how the location makes us feel as the audience...why use the millionaire set? Is the light only there to show us reactions and setting...think about a deeper meaning...when the light fills the studio what could this represent? Maybe relief that he got the answer right? You have been working hard Zain, a great start to the year, please keep it up. :)
